We do not only advise on software. We own, sell and support our own commercial products, in production, in businesses that depend on them — and we build them in PowerBuilder.
Plenty of firms will tell you how to build software. Fewer have to live with the consequences of their own decisions for a decade, answer the phone when a hotel cannot check a guest in on a Friday night, or keep a product working through every version of Windows and Sage that has shipped since.
We do. That changes how we approach client work, because we have been on the other side of every trade-off we are recommending — the shortcut that looks fine until year three, the integration that seemed optional, the upgrade that got deferred.
It also settles a question we are asked constantly by organisations weighing up their legacy estate: is PowerBuilder a dead end? Our own commercial products are PowerBuilder applications, sold and supported today. We are not recommending a platform we would not use ourselves.
Both products on this page are PowerBuilder applications, developed and maintained by the same team that runs our PowerBuilder consultancy.
If you are wondering whether the platform has a future, that is our answer in the most practical form we can give it.
PS50SOP turns your Sage 50 environment into an end-to-end sales engine tailored to your own processes. Every step of the customer journey, from initial quote through to despatch, is driven by configurable workflows that you control, with real-time visibility of stock, supplier costs, margins and commission liabilities.
Mainstay Professional is a front of house property management system for hotels and guest houses. Its modular design lets a property take only the functions it needs, from front desk operations through to housekeeping and finance, so nobody pays for capability they will not use.
Powersoft has been building and supporting commercial software since 1986. Our first major system was delivered to Page & Moy in twelve weeks and grew to more than 200 users; Barclaycard later acquired the company, their commercial director remarking that they "liked the software so much, they bought the company."
Through the 1990s and 2000s we developed and supported Total Solution Travel, a PowerBuilder travel reservation and operations platform. At its peak one customer ran over 500 concurrent users on it, selling more than £2 million of travel product a day — around 6% of the entire UK travel market. The travel call centre market it served has since gone, and so has the product, but the engineering that made it possible is still in the building.
In 2015 we acquired Mainstay, invested heavily in stabilising and modernising it, and delivered the two-way channel management that connects it to more than 150 booking channels today. More of that history is on our news page.
Most of what we build is not a product at all. If neither of these fits, the answer is usually a bespoke system or an add-on to something you already run.
Ask for a demonstration of either product, or tell us what you are trying to do and we will tell you honestly whether one of ours fits, whether something bespoke is a better answer, or whether you already have what you need.
